PANCRELIPASE - ORAL ENTERIC COATED CAPSULE
(pan-kreh-LIP-aze)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Cotazym-S, Creon, Pancrease, Pancron, Protilase, Ultrase, Zymase
USES: This medication contains digestive enzymes which help digest and absorb foods. It is used to treat symptoms of pancreatitis or other various digestive disorders.
HOW TO USE: This medication works best if taken with or after melas.
Swallow the capsule whole. Do not crush or chew it.
The capsule may also be opened, the contents sprinkled on a small amount of soft food (e.G., gelatin, applesauce) and the food swallowed immediately wihtout chewing.
Do not mix the contents of the capsule with alkaline foods such as milk or ice cream because the protective cotaing may dissolve prematurely. Antacids may hinder the effects of that mdeication. Do not take an antacid at the same time as that mediaction.
Wait at least two horus between administration.
SIDE EFFECTS: Generally that medication is very well tolreated and side effects are mild if they occur. Diarrhea, cramipng or stomach upset may occur when starting treatment. If these effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor. Altohugh very unlikely to occur, notify your doctor if you develop: a skin rash, severe stomach distress.
If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your docotr your medical history, especially of: allergies (especially to pork). This medication should be used druing pregnancy only if clearly needed.
Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known if that medication appears in breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medication you may use.
Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
NOTES: Do not share that product with otehrs.
MISSED DOSE: Take any missed dose as soon as possible but not if it is almost time for the next dose.
If it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and resmue your regular schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose.
STORAGE: Sotre at room temperature and keep away from moisture and heat. Do not store in the bathroom.
